Expert Scottsdale, AZ Starlink installers recently completed a professional Starlink installation in N. Scottsdale, Arizona at an southwest style 3,149 sq. ft. single-family home with a typical adobe style flat rooftop.
This is a Starlink residential rooftop installation in North Scottsdale featuring a Starlink Standard (dish) to a Standard Pipe Adapter Mount to a non-penetrating rooftop mount installed professionally with cinder blocks and the 15m/49ft Starlink Standard cable (with RJ45 connectors on both ends) routed to the indoor Starlink Gen3 Wifi Mesh router. Done RIGHT the first time and made to look easy, that’s how you know it was done by pros!
This is just one of several types of mounting options for the southwest style homes and other building structures throughout Arizona. We recommend this for flat roofs as this option is very sturdy, is easily serviceable, upgradeable when the time comes and good for at least 10-20 years.

Our team of Starlink Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) conducted an offsite assessment as the initial phase of the installation process. This preliminary analysis evaluated critical site factors, including the property’s structural orientation, roof type, surrounding tree lines, nearby buildings, and any potential obstructions that could impact satellite signal reception. By thoroughly understanding the site conditions in advance, we were able to strategically pre-select the optimal mounting hardware, installation tools & equipment, cable routing plan, and personnel requirements to ensure an efficient Starlink installation.
After the initial offsite assessment, several recommendations were proposed:
The customer approved the proposed solution and scheduled the installation with our local Starlink installers in Scottsdale AZ.
Our technician arrived onsite as scheduled and began the installation process. First, the installer took inventory of the Starlink equipment to confirm that all necessary components were present and in good condition.
The Starlink installer ran the Starlink obstruction test using the Starlink app. It uses test uses your phone’s camera to scan the sky and map the visibility of the satellite paths. The app then identifies any blockages in the Starlink “visibility cone,” allowing a better placement decisions for the Starlink dish.
Once we confirmed the installation point, we securely mounted the Starlink dish using a non-penetrating roof mount. We specifically chose this mounting solution for flat roofs, as it does not require any drilling or permanent alterations to the roof surface. The non-penetrating mount is stabilized using weighted ballast, such as cinder blocks.
The installer routed the cable externally along the stucco wall of the house from the Starlink dish. We securely fastened it using wall clips at regular intervals to ensure it remains in place and minimizes movement from wind or other environmental factors.
The routing follows a straight vertical path down the corner of the structure, maintaining a clean and professional appearance. Near the bottom, we created a drip loop before the cable enters the home.
The Starlink cable was connected to the Gen3 WiFi router, powered it and activated. Then, configured the router settings such as SSID and password.
We provided the customer with a walkthrough of the Starlink app, such as performance monitoring, Wi-Fi configuration, device management, and basic troubleshooting tools.
After installing the Starlink system, we conducted a Starlink alignment test. It is essential for verifying and fine-tuning the orientation and position of the Starlink dish to ensure optimal satellite tracking. The test confirms that the dish is properly aligned and locked onto the best satellite paths, minimizing potential performance drops. Additionally, the alignment test can detect subtle shifts in the dish’s position, such as those caused by strong winds or mounting issues.
We conducted the Starlink speed test to evaluate the system’s internet performance. Twenty minutes after installation, we performed the first test, which showed promising results. After a day, we asked the customer for another speed test, and the system fully synced, delivering impressive results.
These results demonstrate a significant improvement in performance after the initial setup. It’s important to note that Starlink may take up to 12 hours to synchronize with the satellite network fully.
This Starlink installation in Scottsdale, AZ, was setup optimally with very good speed test results. Initially, just twenty minutes after installation, the system achieved a download speed of 104 Mbps, with an upload speed of 26 Mbps and a latency of 22 ms. Remarkably, after a full day of operation, the performance significantly improved, yielding an impressive download speed of 410 Mbps and a latency of 21 ms.
These results highlight the reliability and efficiency of Starlink in providing high-speed internet access, making it an excellent choice for residents in Scottsdale, underscores Starlink’s capability to meet the demands of modern internet usage.
Final Conclusion: One very happy customer!
