Our team recently completed the IT network installation, data cabling and audiovisual setup in a business office site in Saint Charles, Missouri.
Project Requirements
Our onsite IT support team in Saint Charles, MO received a service request for a network, cabling and equipment installation for the new business site. The onsite video walkthrough video allows us to identify the following scope of work:
- Installation of eight (8) Cat6 plenum-rated Ethernet drops
- Setup of a client-provided network switch
- Installation of a 24-port preloaded patch panel
- Placement of a blank faceplate near the main door
- Termination, testing, and labelling of each Ethernet drop at both ends
- Installation of two client-provided 85″ televisions
- Concealment of TV wiring using raceway molding
- Installation of HDMI wall ports with in-wall cable routing for each TV
Project Execution and Delivery
1. Data Cabling Services: Installation of Eight (8) Cat6 Plenum-Rated Ethernet Drops
Our onsite IT support team strategically routed Cat6 plenum cables throughout the office space to reach designated data port locations. They terminated each cable drop at both ends, one at the patch panel and the other at the corresponding wall plate or end-user device location. Using the Klein Tools LAN Scout Jr., the team tested all terminations to detect common wiring faults, including open circuits, shorts, miswires, split pairs, crossovers, and shield continuity issues. All test results returned as PASS, confirming that all eight conductors were correctly wired and properly connected from end-to-end.
Our team installed a blank faceplate in an unused wall port near the main door to maintain a clean, professional appearance and allow flexibility for future network expansion.
2. Network Hardware Setup
With the cabling in place, it is time to install and configure the client’s networking equipment:
- Installation of a 24-Port Preloaded Patch Panel
Our team mounted the preloaded patch panel securely within the IT rack and used it as the central connection point for all Cat6 drops. They neatly punched down each Cat6 plenum drop to its corresponding port. - Setup of a Client-Provided Network Switch
They installed and powered up the client-supplied network switch in the designated IT rack area. Then, connected the switch to the patch panel using Cat6 patch cables, enabling proper routing of all network drops. They specifically connected port 24, while leaving port 23 open for future expansion.
3. Audiovisual (TV) Installation
The final stage of the project involved the installation of audiovisual equipment (TV). It includes:
- Installation of HDMI Wall Ports with In-Wall Cable Routing
Our team installed single-cable HDMI ports behind each TV. They routed the HDMI cables in-wall, ensuring clean and direct connections to the HDMI source.
- Installation of Two Client-Provided 85″ Televisions
Our installers securely mounted the TVs on pre-installed wall mounts at a height of six feet, as the client requested. This placement allowed for optimal viewing in the office space. - Concealment of TV Wiring Using Raceway Molding
They concealed all exposed AV and power cables using raceway molding. This not only improved the visual presentation but also ensured a safer, more professional installation by eliminating cable clutter.
